As a charity, the Matthew Smith Almshouse Charity welcomes and values any additional external support.
Whereas the Almshouses were initially established through the generosity of local individuals or families, those original bequests may now only fund a tiny proportion of the annual expenditure.
The Matthew Smith Almshouse charity is no exception and the initial endowments still protected need to be enhanced to ensure the stability and longevity of the Charity’s provision for the local community specifically the old in need of accommodation.
The organisation is voluntary without any paid officials.
